9/11 Victim Compensation Fund Appeals and Amendments

Appeals may be filed if the VCF challenges your eligibility, or if the amount of compensation doesn’t appear to be in line with what you deserve.

If your claim for eligibility is turned down, we can file a VCF appeal that disputes the nature of that rejection, and appear at formal hearings at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on your behalf. If the amount of your award does not appear to be in line with your medical expenses and other losses, we will make an appeal that focuses on possible flaws in the VCF’s calculations. These appeals are often successful in providing a significantly higher compensation amount to the victim.

Some victims who were not satisfied with the amount of the VCF award secured by another law firm have come to Kreindler to file an appeal. In many cases, after thoroughly reviewing information about the victim’s circumstances, we were able to submit an appeal with new information, resulting in a significantly higher compensation amount.

Amendments to the claim may be submitted when new information about the victim’s health or circumstances comes to light.

We will work with you to maximize your compensation according to what you’re entitled to and expedite your claim if appropriate. This will be the case if your documented health condition worsens, new health issues emerge, or new information about your economic losses becomes available.

The firm’s additional actions on your behalf come at no additional cost to you. Our fee is still 10% of the money awarded to you by the VCF.
